What Muscles Should I Work On For Golf

By: Sid Johnson

There are several KEY muscle groups you should work on specific for your golf swing. These muscles are critical to producing maximum power, consistency and a repeatable golf swing.

Before I get into what muscles are important, I want to let you know that the MAIN movement in golf is rotational, therefore you must incorporate as many turning golf exercises as you can to create power specific to your golf swing.

Also, make sure you do as many exercises as you can standing and better yet in your golf posture. This will support the exact muscles you need to focus on for a very powerful and consistent golf swing.

Now...I know you've been waiting for the answer to the question, "What Muscles Should I Work On For Golf' and I'll unvail it now.

YOUR CORE!

In all athletic movements (including the golf swing) your core is the engine to power. The core is the middle section of your body, primarily your abdominals. These muscles are critical in creating torque on both your backswing AND follow through. This torque generates dramatically higher clubhead speeds, resulting in LONGER drives.

All you need to do is come up with a simple golf exercise program you know you can do a couple times a week to see improvement.

This exercise program for golf include several golf stretches for your core. These are twisting type stretches where you'll stabilize your lower body, while you rotate your upper body both back and through to increase your backswing and follow through.

Of course you can focus on other muscles groups for your golf swing, but your "biggest bang for your buck" is core golf exercises. So get going and start right away!
