Off Season Power Golf Training Program

In the off season power golf training should be the focus. This is the time to implement golf training exercises to improve your power and distance. This is the only way to see improvement is to isolate your golf swing muscles, strengthen and stretch them, so you can start next spring golf season ready to go.

Core Golf Strengthening

This is the main focus of your training program. Your core is the engine to your golf swing power. But here's where golfers get it wrong. They don't incorporate ROTATIONAL exercises for their core. Golf is a rotational movement, therefore, rotational exercises and stretches are a must. This is called golf-specific training.

Using affordable in-home pieces of equipment like dumbbells, medicine balls and tubing are very effective in quickly increasing your core rotational power. These exercises are also fun, so you not only see a benefit on the course, but it's fun while you do them.

Swing A Weighted Golf Club

Swinging a weighted golf club at higher speeds, but with good swing technique is another very effective off season power golf training program. You start out swinging slower, and as you build up your golf swing strength, slowly increase the speed, but always maintaining proper technique. I would also recommend doing it in front of a mirror so you can closely monitor form.

Stretch, Stretch, Stretch

Did I say that enough times? An optimal golf swing requires a high level of flexibility (range of motion). Without it, you will not be able to maximize your power potential in your swing. All it takes is a few targeted golf swing stretches a day to see a big improvement in your power and distance.
