How To Shorten Your Golf Swing

Do you really need to learn how to shorten your golf swing? Isn't that defeating the purpose of hitting longer drives? Golfers are always looking for more distance and shortening your golf swing isn't going to help. Either way, if you feel your only option is this, then we'll discuss it here and you make the final choice.

There are several benefits of shortening your golf backswing.

You will gain more accuracy as you will have a better feeling for where the club is. You will also have a better chance at hitting the ball more solidly since you do know where the club is throughout this shortened swing. It will save on the wear and tear of your lower back since you are not torquing it as much.

The negatives of shortening your golf backswing.

You will no doubt hit the ball a much shorter distance. Accept it right now and move on. You will also have to rework your golf swing timing and sequence as you'll be getting to the ball much quicker, which will create inconsistencies until you get it figured out.

If after all that you STILL want to shorten your swing the first tip is to swing back to where your lead arm is parallel to the ground and that's it. Train yourself to stop your swing at this point.

Secondly, only let your hands get hip high on the backswing. This will feel very short, but in reality it will be much higher than that. Give those two a try.
