Golf Specific Exercise: What Is It?

By: Mike T Pedersen

Golf specific exercise is not a mystery anymore. It is pretty self-explanatory. It is any exercise that is specific to the demands and requirements of your golf swing. The ONLY exercise any golfer should be doing if he/she wants to improve their game is golf specific exercise.

What makes it golf specific?

* It's on your feet.
* It's mostly in your golf posture.
* It's involving many muscle groups at the same time.
* It's certain phases of your actual golf swing.

Doesn't it make sense to do exercises with resistance that are closely related to the movements in your golf swing?

Think of the baseball player swinging a weighted bat as a warm up right before he goes to the plate. That is a perfect example of a sport specific exercise that will benefit the athlete.

In your case, you want to break your golf swing down into take-away, halfway back, top of swing, half-way down, post impact, finish.

You could literally do an exercise for every phase mentioned above with exercise tubing, a dumbbell or even a weighted medicine ball.

The result of this type of exercise for a golfer is LONGER drives, better accuracy and improved consistency. Isn't that what we all want?

Do you want to discover the secret to creating more power and consistency in your golf swing... AND eliminating ALL your swing faults?
