Fitness For Golf

By: Trent

Fitness for golf is a must for EVERY senior golfer wanting to improve golf driving distance, consistency and technique. Fitness specific to golf can improve every aspect of your golf swing.

To make a FULL backswing with minimal tension you need to be flexible. Most senior golfers have lost a massive amount of flexibility and their driving distance has plummeted. This is a common occurrence that can be remedied with a few simple golf stretches targeting your golf backswing muscles.

To have higher clubhead speed you need strong core muscles. If your core muscles are weak they cannot unload the torque you've created in your backswing resulting in lower clubhead speed and weak strikes of the ball. Rotational exercises are needed to make this happen.

What is golf fitness?

Golf fitness is the precise movements of the golf swing with resistance. This resistance can be exercise bands with handles, medicine balls, and handweights. Breaking the golf swing down into phases and doing resistance exercises for those phases is a good example of fitness for golf.

The most important thing a senior golfer can do is realize his/her physical limitations and implement golf fitness for golfers exercises and stretches.

The minute this golfer starts improving their fitness, their golf swing will feel easier, more powerful, and all aches and pains will go away. The end result is a better game and more enjoyment for years to come.
