Choosing Give A ways for your Golf Outing or Tournament

By: Micheal Manzella

Having a golf outing or tournament and need to find golf items to give away?

Your first step before you even shop for give aways is to determine your budget and how many golfers you have.

Most outings are not cheap for the golfers especially if you bring your spouse and children to make a foursome. Not to mention the fact that as a golfer there are so many golf outings throughout the year it is hard to go to all of them.

The above reasons are why I think it is important to make sure each and every golfer gets something, no matter how small. Even just a small bag of tees with a ball marker is much better than nothing at all.

Goody Bags are probably the most common give away it can be stuffed with coupons or small golf accessories. You can use any type of bag but a good idea is a golf tee valuable, or caddy bag or inexpensive golf shoe bag which the golfer can actually use. Also these items can be logoed with the event or the logo of whoever donated it. Golf valuable pouch is a golf bag accessory which can be attached to your golf bag and used for anything from golf tees to your cell phone. They can cost you around $6.00 to $10.00 less if you buy a high volume. A logo adds additional expense but adds a personal touch to your event. You can also buy premium style pouches with more pockets and fancier styles in addition they can be made of suede material and can go for as much as $25.00 each.

Fill the goody bag with what ever you can get. Coupons are good addition to any bag. You can go to local merchants and ask for coupons or gift cards. Go anywhere from Pizza Shops to Golf Shops. Another good idea is to ask the golfers as they sign up for the tournaments if they have a business or service they would like to promote for just the cost of a coupon or a sponsor fee... Attach the goody bag to each cart before the tournament begins also include anything pertaining to the tournament (i.e. food tickets or tournament rules) Don't forget to ask the golf course or pro shop where you are holding the tournament for any coupons or gift cards...

Golf Towels another great give away is a golf towel with the event name or logo on it. You can get personalized golf towels for $6.99 for a (16 x 26 trifold towel) each plus set up they usually have a minimum order of 48 or more. You can buy smaller towels or fancier towels. You can try screen printing instead of stitching to save money. If you do not have a budget for golf towels ask one of your sponsor for towels with there logo or company names on them.

Divot Repair Tools are another great give away, they encourages golfers to repair their ball mark on the greens. They can cost a $1.00 each to a lot more for fancier with logos on them. A plastic divot repair tool with a logo on the ball marker can cost about $1.50 each with 100 piece minimum. Tee, Marker, & Divot Tool Packs witch include (6) 2 3/4" Tees, (2) Ball Marker, (1) Divot Tool can cost around $4.00 each and usually have minimum of 150 pieces.

Remember, if you get any personalized products you will need to order them at least a month in advance to give time for printing and shipping to you...

Golf Balls Golf Balls Golf Balls. Golf Balls are an excellent give a way. The most common is a sleeve a balls to each golfer. Balls Personalized with logos can run from $12.00 a dozen to $50.00 a dozen depending on the brand. Or go to your local golf or sporting goods store and find which golf balls are on sale and buy dozens or 15 packs of name brand balls. Split them into sleeves and give the sleeves away. If you outing includes people who do not golf much any name brand ball should do. If you have a lot of avid golfers the golf balls you get will not please everyone because golfers have there own brand. But the thought of the give away is still appreciated and they may give them away or use them for practice.

Golf Picture Frames an excellent idea. They can be personalized with the event name on them with a golf motif. They are great to give away because you can take a group photo or pictures of each group or foursome. Personalized picture frames can be costly especially if you have a lot of golfers. They can run $12.99 and up each. You can get them with out the personalization from about $8.00 and up.

Golf Shoe Bags should not be over looks. Every golfer can use one. You can have them personalized as well. Shoe bags start around $8.00 each. Better shoe bags around $15.00 each. Premium shoe bags can run from $40-$80. Another nice touch is golf spike brushes, shoe horns or Cedar shoe trees all of which can be screen printed with you event logo.

Golf Umbrellas all golf umbrellas can be screen printed. Logoed golf umbrellas run $15.00 each and up.

If you host the same tournament every year it may be a good idea to change gifts from year to year. Unless you give away items like golf towels and tee shirts you can just change the year (SO n SO Golf Outing 2009). Be creative with your give aways standing out from the norm is what keeps people coming back. An unusual give away if you are having a golf scramble is give a small aquarium fish net to each cart. The net can be used to scoop up golf balls from the unused shots. You can scoop them up with out stopping. A fun little touch for your golf scramble

So many other golf give aways are available such as apparel, tee shirts, golf shirts or golf jackets. Tournament gift kits which include a variety of golf items all personalized with your event name.
