Build Golf Muscles When You Aren't On the Club

By: Golfing Pro

If you are a jogger, you would definitely train before ever going into competition against another. If you were a person who swims, you will swim hundreds of thousands of laps before racing another person in the pool. But the same is usually not true for most people who play golf. For golfers, practice does not take place. Duffers may warm up before a round, but that's it.
The best golf training is rarely done out on the fairways, and it is not always done on the practice range either. But, that isn't to say that there are not benefits made on the course.
You may learn the greens, learn your strengths and weaknesses, and view how you react under heat. On the driving range, you can work on grooving your swing and figure out how far you will hit each club. Even on the green, you can work on your touch and your capability to determine a feel or read the grass.
But, the best golf training may happen in the weight room. Golf may seem like an easy sport, but it uses many aspects of overall fitness. One's aerobic capacity is vital for the amount of walking that occurs over a few hours. The average golf course is almost five miles long, and a round of golf means a lot of mileage on the feet.
Strength is also very important because of the many times you will swing the club during one round. Even if you are scoring 80 or below, you are still swinging your club over 200 times in a round. You will require a lot of strength to do that without wincing or deterioration of swing.
Golf training really should begin in the fitness center. Improve your aerobic power and bodily strength and you will witness an almost immediate improvement in your rounds.
